I know protein matters, especially while working on weight management and protecting muscle. But I do not want every meal to come through a straw or arrive wrapped like a candy bar wearing gym clothes. I want breakfast.
1. Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich—without the usual bread
Cook two thin egg rounds and use them as the “bread” around bacon and a slice of pepper jack. Add avocado or a small drizzle of mild taco sauce if that sounds good.
2. Cottage-cheese breakfast bowl
Start with cottage cheese, then add a chopped boiled egg, sliced chicken sausage, cucumber, tomatoes, and everything seasoning. It is basically an adult lunchable before noon.
3. Venison and egg skillet
Brown lean venison with onion and bell pepper. Add eggs and cook until just set. Make enough filling for two mornings and reheat it gently.
4. Salmon cakes with an egg
Use canned salmon, egg, a few cracker crumbs, and simple seasoning to make small patties. Air-fry or skillet-cook them and serve with an egg and sliced tomato.
5. Bacon-cheddar cottage-cheese biscuits
These are for mornings when I want something that feels like a proper Southern breakfast. Cottage cheese and eggs add protein; bacon and cheddar make sure nobody mistakes breakfast for punishment.
The best high-protein breakfast is the one you enjoy enough to make again.
How I build the plate
I choose a main protein, add fruit or vegetables, and then include the amount of carbohydrate that fits my current plan. Exact protein and calorie needs vary, so I use my own targets rather than borrowing someone else’s numbers from the internet.
